During the 6-month probationary period, new members who are not experienced pistol shooters will undergo one on one training by one of the clubs training team.
The course is undertaken in the 10m-air range where they will learn safety protocols, the match rules as well as the fundamentals of ISSF handgun shooting. During this time a pistol can be hired from the club and the trainer will arrange ammunition.
Once new members have obtained a level of competence and if there is interested the trainer will introduce firing a .22 cal pistol on the 25m range.
The process is a staged competence based programme to ensure safety and to develop pistol-shooting skills. Once new shooters have completed their probationary period having met all milestones they can join in with the regular membership and compete in the weekly competition events.
